Description:

itinerary

At 5:00 a.m. to 6:00 a.m., we will depart from the city of Huaraz toward the impressive Quebrada Llaca, following a paved road that will take approximately two hours. Upon arrival, we will pack our gear and get ready to begin a challenging hike. We will advance along a steep zigzag trail, with rocky sections that will gradually bring us closer to the moraine area, offering us close-up views of the imposing Vallunaraju.

We'll end the day at Campo Morrena, 5,000 meters above sea level. Weather permitting, we'll be able to enjoy an unparalleled sunset, a spectacle worthy of admiration from this altitude.

We'll start our day very early, at 2:00 a.m., with an early breakfast to prepare us for the ascent. After about a 20-minute hike, we'll reach the glacier's trailhead. Here, we'll gear up with the necessary technical equipment and, once roped up, begin the climb along the southwest face. Throughout the ascent, we'll overcome crevasses and trails that have been transformed by the effects of climate change.

We'll reach the pass and, from there, continue along a narrow ridge that will take us directly to the summit of Vallunaraju, located at 5,685 meters above sea level. From this point, we'll enjoy spectacular views of the Cordillera Blanca and its majestic peaks, including Huascarán, Huandoy, Chacraraju, Copa, and Chopicalqui.

After a moment of contemplation at the summit, we'll begin the descent, which will take approximately three hours to reach Campo Morrena and then two more hours to return to Quebrada Llaca, where our private transportation will be waiting for us. Finally, we'll return to Huaraz for approximately 1.5 hours, concluding our experience between 2:00 and 3:00 p.m.
